Ecological Sustainability

Sustainability is an essential future factor for us. Not only to comply with laws and standards, but also as a part of sustainable and cross-generational corporate development.

Our actions have a direct impact on our lives and those of future generations. That is why we use our technological and material expertise, our many years of experience, our know-how, capital and our passionate ambition to develop far-sighted solutions every day.

Sustainability goals

In order to identify the most important sustainability issues for the FRÄNKISCHE Group and its stakeholders, a materiality analysis has been carried out in recent months. Based on these results, we are currently working on specific sustainability goals for the coming years. With the help of our environmental management system, we can precisely measure improvements and reduce the environmentally harmful effects of our facilities in the long term.

Plastic products and sustainability - how do they go together?

Plastics are a key component of modern infrastructure. Plastic is the ideal material basis for durable capital goods in particular, as it can be used to cover the central, vital areas of our infrastructure: water and electricity supply as well as air and data exchange.

Our plastic pipe systems are characterized by their high quality and are distinguished from disposable plastics by their exceptional durability. They are lightweight, easy to install, resistant and do not corrode. This means they can be used reliably for up to 100 years and even longer.

We also contribute to reducing material consumption through various projects, for example by using thin-walled single and multi-layer systems or by replacing heavier or ecologically questionable materials with our plastic solutions. To reduce CO₂ emissions and promote circular economy, we also use recyclates where permitted and technically possible and carry out research and development activities into bioplastics and renewable additives and fillers.

Towards a CO₂-neutral headquarters
As part of an energy concept, it was analyzed how the FRÄNKISCHE Group's headquarters in Königsberg can be supplied with electricity, heat and energy for internal logistics with a high proportion of renewable energy in the future. The aim was to develop economically viable scenarios for an increasingly CO₂ -neutral site using green hydrogen as an energy source.

Our products
CO₂-reduced product range
We were the first manufacturer to receive the life cycle assessment for electrical installation conduits from the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e. V. (IBU). Some of our corrugated plastic conduits are also available as eco-balanced versions. The use of regenerates means that up to 60 % less fossil raw materials are used and up to 47 % less CO₂ is saved.

Renewable energies
With rooftop photovoltaic systems at our Königsberg headquarters, we generate around 1,600,000 kWh of solar power every year. In addition, an approx. 6-hectare solar park is currently being planned.

CO₂ emissions
Company car guidelines
The CO₂ emissions of newly ordered company cars may not exceed 175 g CO₂/km, and from 2026 a maximum of 125 g CO₂/km (maximum combined consumption according to WLTP). Employees, customers and business partners can also charge their e-vehicles at our on-site charging stations at our facilities in Königsberg and the Czech Republic, among others.

Our products as part of the solution

Liveable and climate-friendly cities

Urban heat islands, heavy rainfall and flooding: Densely built-up areas and the increasing surface sealing mean that cities are heating up more and more, while at the same time there is no space for stormwater to seep away and evaporate. The FRÄNKISCHE Group is focusing on making optimum use of surfaces in order to restore the natural stormwater balance in cities too - the key to cooling urban heat islands and counteracting flash floods at the same time.

Electromobility and renewable energies

More climate protection, new markets, less dependance on fossil fuels: mobility will be rethought in the future. The further development of electromobility is a forward-looking topic for German industry. From energy generation with wind turbines and solar panels to the transport and storage of energy and the installation of charging stations - our products are used in all areas.

Drinking water

Drinking water is our most important foodstuff and cannot be replaced by anything else. That is why installation technology is of utmost importance. Our durable multi-layer composite pipe system guarantees the highest quality standards for the best drinking water hygiene. All materials used are completely hygienically safe and lead-free.

Cable protection

In the course of mechanization, underground laying of cables has become established in industrialized countries, primarily due to the ever-increasing level of networking. Our cable protection systems extend the service life of products, which therefore need to be replaced less frequently, thus conserving resources. Lightweight pipe systems for fluid or thermal management also reduce vehicle weight and help to reduce fuel consumption and the associated emissions.

Supporting the natural water cycle

Stormwater runoff from sealed surfaces can be problematic for receiving waters or groundwater due to the volume of runoff or substances it contains. Our high-performance, underground stormwater treatment systems enable a targeted disposal of pollutants. So that stormwater can be returned to the natural cycle in an ecologically and economically sensible way.

Heat recovery ventilation

Fresh air not only makes us feel good, it also has an impact on our health. Our heat recovery ventilation system ensures continuous air exchange throughout the house or the apartment. Used indoor air is automatically replaced with fresh outside air. The outside air is filtered so that no pollutants, pollen or viruses enter the living spaces.

Standards

Our corporate social responsibility management is based on various sets of rules. The framework is formed by the principles of the UN Global Compact, a worldwide initiative of the United Nations for responsible corporate governance and global justice. We also align our actions with international agreements, such as the results of the UN climate protection conferences or the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
